Ingredients
  

  • 1 lbs navy beans
  • 1 tbsp Baking soda
  • water
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 3 ounces cooked bacon
  • ΒΌ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 medium sized Chopped onion
  • 1 bay leaf

Notes

  1. Take the beans and wash them thoroughly. Make sure they are free of any kind of debris.
  2. Now add 1 tsp of baking soda to 6 cups of water in a container.
  3. Next, take a medium-sized container and transfer step 2 material in it and take it to boil.
  4. Now add the washed-out navy beans to the water.
  5. Keep it still for approx 10 mins and let it boil.
  6. After 10 mins turn the flame off and cover the boiling container.
  7. Let it settle overnight.
  8. The next morning, rinse the beans well.
  9. Now add the beans and the remaining ingredients to the container with a lid that fits tightly.
  10. Stir the ingredients and beans well and add water till the level of beans (so that they get covered under the water) and then put the lid.
  11. Now allow, it to bake for 5-6 hours and stir it at an interval of 1 hour. Also, keep adding a little amount of water regularly if you notice the remaining water starts drying up.
  12. After the stipulated time, you will notice it to be thick.
